Sustainable Transportation Funding Available - Deadline May 19 2010
The Green Mobility Capital Grants Program is accepting applications from
towns, municipalities, band councils and community groups for the
creation of community-based sustainable transportation infrastructure.
The goal of this program is to reduce fuel use, and associated
greenhouse gas emissions, in the transportation sector. Applicants can
apply for up to $25,000 towards the capital costs of a project to be
completed by March 1, 2011. Matching funding of at least 50% of the
total project value is required. Project funding can be used to support
initiatives such as:
* Purchase of an accessible van, feeder bus, or carshare program
vehicle
* Construction of a commuter trail connecting a neighbourhood to a
transit terminal
* Infrastructure to support the operation of small-scale passenger
ferry
* Purchase of bike racks for transit vehicles
* Installation of bike racks
* Creation of a pedestrian zone, bike lane, or car-free area
* Share-the-road signage
